Ondřej Rakušan
Ondřej comes from a family of graphic designers. Both his parents encouraged him to become an artist from an early age. After studying scenography at high school, he continued his studies at the Faculty of Architecture of the Czech Technical University in Prague under prof. ak. sculp. Marián Karel in industrial design. The combination of Prof. Karl's artistic approach with the strictly technical environment of the CTU defined Ondřej's relationship to technology. The strong point of Ondřej's work is the combination of classical art education with the most modern techniques from the field of animation, graphics and AI. Thanks to this specialization, Ondřej Rakušan often collaborates with well-known artists, where his technical and artistic skills allow him to co-create works with artists such as Jiří Černický or Lucie Skřivánková.
Light from the Stone
The video mapping projection outlines the history of Kutná Hora. The individual animations symbolically represent the period when Kutná Hora became one of the most important towns in the Czech lands thanks to silver mining. This moment started the building of monumental architecture, for example, the St. Barbara's Cathedral. The projection consists of three acts. The first part depicts natural motifs in the form of vines. The simplicity of the animation characterises a life close to nature. In the second act, silver emerges in its purity from the depths of the underground. The final passage brings a period of flowering through lavishly rendered scenes. The author's emphasis on the non-figurative abstract form of the whole projection enhances the attractiveness of the mapping technology.
